OxygenOS Beta Users Get Faulty

Update OnePlus is appreciated for making the fine budget premium smartphones and pushing regular software updates. While the company can procure the latest updates on time, pushing faulty updates to the wrong user causes havoc. This happened in March this year already, where OnePlus pushed a wrong OTA update to OnePlus 7T devices. And now, it just repeated with the OnePlus 8 series, as OnePlus has accidentally rolled out a stable OxygenOS update to its OnePlus 8 series beta users. Several users have taken to OnePlus community forums to inform this, who were then replied by an OnePlus’ Community Consultant as; While the statement is clear, it arrived too late. Many users who have updated their devices without checking the update titles have already faced the consequences. Since it wiped out devices after installing, many have lost their on-device media, messages, etc. Some things got more serious as few have lost access to their 2FA apps and were locked out from transferring the 2FA keys! Also, users were downgraded to outdated August 2020 security patches from the latest October 2020 security patches. While this is growing, OnePlus has removed the update and suggested some workarounds like sharing an APK to avoid data loss. This is helpful for users who haven’t rebooted their device after installing the update.
