As per it, the CEO stated that Google has hired over 10,000 people in Q2 alone this year. But to support important opportunities now, the company is slowing down hiring new people, while the recruitment for critical departments like engineering, technical, etc will continue as usual.
Slowing Down The Hiring New People
Due to ongoing economic tensions around the world, several tech companies are going on a hiring freeze to cut costs, as one measure. We’ve seen Meta, Uber, Spotify, Snap, Twitter, Netflix, and GameStop announcing their hiring pause, and now Google joins the list. As per an internal memo shared by Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Tuesday, as obtained by Business Insider, the company will slow down hiring for new talent for the rest of 2022 and 2023. Although, recruitment for engineering and other technical areas will go on as usual. Pichai cited economic headwinds as one major reason, while also boasting of adding 10,000+ people in Q2 this year alone. Yet, they decided to slow down on hiring new people, while re-deploying the current resources in critical areas. Further, be said Google is more
