It’s rated at 5.5/10 on the repairability scale. Thus it’s hard for the users to DIY whenever there’s a repair. Hoping that Google will ease this in the next iteration, here’s the full video detailing the internal parts of Pixel 7 Pro.
Google Pixel 7 Pro Teardown Session
With the self-repair law handing people the most rights on DIY repairs of their devices, OEMs are supposed to make it easier for them to do so. Though Samsung and Apple are following this suit, Google is walking on the opposite path of making it hard for them! The company launched its latest flagship series – Pixel 7, just a couple of days ago. And it’s not easy to repair them when compared to their predecessors. It’s revealed in a teardown video from PBKreviews, which showcased how the internals of Pixel 7 Pro is packed.
You’d see the initial opening happening from the front – the screen, revealing a motherboard protected by a metal shield. Though screen replacements are relatively easy, and so are finding other parts in the device, Battery replacements are complex. Even changing a damaged charging port can be hard as it’s soldered to the motherboard. Well, with all these, they had given the repairability score of 5.5/10 to Pixel 7 Pro – the same as the Pixel 6 Pro, which has a similar body and breakdown. Though Google fits the latest in-house made processor – Tensor G2 SoC and an improved zoom imaging system, the most internal hardware is the same as the Pixel 6 Pro. And it’s worst compared to Samsung’s Galaxy S22, which has a repairability score of 7.5/10.
