Indian Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia launched the facility at the IGI airport on December 1. As he mentioned, the latest check-in facility will keep a check on the safety of the passenger data, as all the information will be stored in an encrypted format. In its first phase, the service will be available for the onboard airlines. All the passengers who are flying in domestic planes can use the facility at the Delhi, Varanasi, and Bangalore airports. As of now, only three airlines are part of the initiative – Air India, IndiGo, and Vistara. SpiceJet is also looking to join the bandwagon soon.
